We want to keep plastic and food waste from going to landfills!
According to EPA, we create 4.9 lb of waste per person per day in the US. Waste doesn't only take up space in landfills, but also contributes to ill health of populations in many different ways. According to the study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the estimated annual toll – about 107,000 fatalities a year – is roughly equal to the number of people in the U.S. killed in car crashes every year. Air pollution is not only created by burning of fossil fuels for transportation, it is also created during the process of making different kinds of plastics. The usage of plastic has skyrocketed in recent years and we need to educate communities regarding harmful effects of plastics. Additionally, plastics contribute to several other health issues such as cancers, metabolic disorders and neurological and psychological disorders. We also send a lot of food waste to landfills that creates methane and adds to global warming.
reTHink provides necessary education and resources for people to reduce, recycle, up-cycle, and compost unavoidable waste.
By providing several educational programs and services such as plastic up-cycling, recycling, and composting, we want to enhance overall recycling rates and create a cleaner and greener planet. Please contribute today to help us provide these programs.
